For the second year in a row, Michelle Leonette, Elliance, Inc. Web designer, has been selected as a judge for the renowned International WebAward Competition sponsored by the Web Marketing Association. This event recognizes the achievements of leading Web site designers participating in 96 different industries, while setting the standard of excellence for all Web site development.
Leonette has won awards for her work with clients such as First Commonwealth Financial, American Healthcare Solutions, Pittsburgh Regional Alliance, Jewish Healthcare Foundation and MONTH2MONTH. To ensure fairness and an objective atmosphere, the Web Marketing Association process is designed so judges do not evaluate their own sites.
In Leonette’s opinion, all interactive agents, whether they are Web designers, developers and/or information architects, have a responsibility to create a better experience for the user and make the Web a better place.
“This competition offers a chance to receive positive and constructive feedback,” she explains, “which is critical to improving the online environment. As a judge, I enjoy the chance to applaud those who have created an exceptional site. Everyone in this industry can learn from the best of the best.”
As an international event, the annual WebAward Competition selects judges from more than 25 countries worldwide. The goal of the Web Marketing Association, the sponsor of the competition, is to recognize individuals and companies responsible for developing the most effective Web sites on the Internet.
Each Web site entered is assigned to three or more expert judges for evaluation, who then visit the site, starting with the URL provided on the entry form, and assume the role of the target user. Entries are judged on seven criteria, on a scale of 1-10 points: design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copywriting and ease of use.
