After Phipps Conservatory re-engineered its physical space to become among the world’s most “green” and sustainable public gardens, they hired Elliance® to redesign their website.
Nonprofit website design is most successful when it positions a site to achieve specific business goals. So, phippsconservatory.org was created with these three objectives. First, increase memberships, donations and special event bookings. Second, let members, donors and visitors quickly find the information they need. And third, reveal the full breadth of sustainability-related resources and initiatives underway at Phipps.
“The final result is breathtaking and accomplishes everything we set out to do," said Richard V. Piacentini, Executive Director of Phipps. “The presentation of our rooms, the placement of navigation menus, adding education classes—everything fell into place to create a virtual visitor experience to rival that which we strive for at the Conservatory.”
The revised site architecture and design emphasize a balance between the core offer—a visit to a world-class conservancy—and an emerging role for Phipps as a thought leader around sustainable gardening and living.
The new site architecture concentrates widely dispersed activity around green gardening and environmental stewardship under a single stack. The design punctuates the point by bringing these same activities into the foreground, unified under the banner of Phipps Project Green Heart.
