Hailed as the "Oscars of the Internet" by the “New York Times,” the Webby Awards are the leading international awards honoring excellence on the Internet, including Web sites, interactive advertising, online film and video, and mobile Web sites.
The 12th Annual Webby Awards received nearly 10,000 entries from more than 60 countries and all 50 states. Out of more than 10,000 entries submitted, fewer than 15% received this honor and were deemed Official Honorees.
"The Webby Awards honors the outstanding work that is setting the standards for the Internet," said David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards.
The awards are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a global organization that includes David Bowie, Harvey Weinstein, Arianna Huffington, AKQA Global Creative Director Rei Inamoto, Matt Groening, Jamie Oliver, Internet inventor Vinton Cerf, and RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser.
College Prowler creates college guides written by and for college students. The site reflects the youthful energy of the brand, while at the same time being information-rich and usable.
“College guides have traditionally been provided by boring corporate entities,” said Edward Chin, an interactive designer at Elliance. “We wanted to differentiate our client by creating a site that the competition wouldn't be able to get away with.”
This is the third award Elliance has won for its design of www.CollegeProwler.com. The site received a 2007 STEP Inside Design Award and a 2007 W3 Award.
First Commonwealth Financial (FCF) chose Elliance to redesign its site because of Elliance’s emphasis on strategic Web development. Elliance understood that FCF’s long-range growth and profitability hinged on the ability to attract Web visitors, convert them into customers, and persuade new and existing customers to adopt online banking services.
Building on its expertise and experience in serving bank marketing needs, Elliance designed a site that would improve FCF’s cross-selling and customer retention. It coupled the re-launched site with a search engine marketing campaign designed to drive new and existing users to the site.
This is the second award Elliance has received for its design of www.FCBanking.com. In 2006 the site received a Davey Award.
